The Du Barry Hoop Earrings named after the official mistress of Louis XV of France - Madame du Barry.
These beautiful earrings have an extra touch of glamour with gold and white diamonds embodying a royal bee delicately dangling from the hoop. As part of the LA MARQUIS collection was inspired by Parisian springtime, the series was designed with floral and natural elements adorned by the glisten of diamonds and gold.
Du Barry had the Cinderella story- from a regular child, she became the mistress of the king. But it wasn't always easy. Du Barry wasn't recognized by the court so fast- it took 2 years until she was formally recognized. Until then Du Barry was very famous for her special services as a cortisone of the high society in Paris. Once recognized by the court, Du Barry enjoyed all the best of being a Marquise- the outstanding gowns, the masterpiece hairdo, and of course the jewelry. The most outrageous one was a 3 million liter diamond necklace!
On 8 December 1793, Madame du Barry was beheaded by guillotine. On the way to the guillotine, she collapsed in the tumbrel and begged the indifferent crowd for help. Her last words were Encore un moment, monsieur le bourreau, un petit moment, "One more moment, Mr. Executioner, I beg you!" She became an existential symbol and was quoted several times in Dostoyevsky's book the idiot.
